Information Technology Applications in Accounting Business

By Les Freeman

Technology is constantly changing the world. It influences every area and sphere of our lives. The world of commerce and business has been especially impacted by technology. Commerce and business use technology to perform most of the tasks necessary to run a business these days. Business technology is used in communication, storing data; using specialised business software is essential for businesses to run efficiently. Businesses of all sizes use technology to be organized and successful. Business technology is essential for businesses to keep track of all their transactions, and to keep these transactions available for use at all the times. This is where the accounting business software comes into picture. Accounting business software is now a required essential for all types of commercial establishments. Businesses from small- scale shops to multinational organizations need accounting business software.

Different vendors offer many different types of accounting business software. These types of software can be customized to keep a track of all sorts of business information. The types of information businesses need to have access to ranges from financial details like invoices, shipping details, payment details and tax forms. Businesses also need to keep personnel records like employment records, federal work safety information, insurance information, retirement information, and so on. If you are contemplating buying accounting software for your business, opt for a program that offers a free trial. You can test it out in your office environment, as well as let your employees check out the program and see if they like it. Testing the software at your business will help you decide for yourself if it suits your business needs or not. Before you start the free trial, it is important to check if the trial version has an expiration date. Sometimes, if you don't cancel your subscription to the software in time, you have to buy the software. It's also good to check whether there are only a few features that you can use during the trial period, of if you can try the entire program. Though such trial software does not allow the flexibility of saving your work, it can give you a fairly good idea whether the software will meet the needs of you and your company or not.

The other possibility is to develop your own customized software In that way, you can build your software to your specific requirements and needs. This is particularly advisable for a big corporation that already has a team of programmers. Your company's programmers can be dedicated to such a project. They also may already have a good idea of the business software needs of the company. This can be a great advantage, since the programmer can work with the actual users The programmers can take the feedback of the employees and keep improving on it until every one is satisfied with the features of the software. Unlike off-the-shelf accounting software, this will eliminate all the functions that the users will never be actually using. Having a business accounting software is great benefit to the efficiency of the business, because it standardises the information and data of the users all through the company. This standardization is critical in the field of accounting. Accounting departments in most companies need to have standardised accounting information, so accountants can save time during information consolidation. Consolidation is one of the most important functions of the accounting department.

As you can see, accounting business software can be a great benefit to those involved in commerce. One way to research the type of accounting business software your company might be interested in is to search on the Internet. Most accounting software companies have great descriptions of their products. You can shop and compare the features of each program. Also, you might try several free trials at the same time. This way you will receive hands-on experience with each program. Most accounting software companies have customer service representatives who are more than happy to answer any questions you might have about their software. They also have information on the computers and other equipment needed to run their software. If you don't have a team of professional programmers available to customise a business accounting program for you, researching your options on the Internet is the next best choice for your company.

Whether you have an IT department to develop your customised software, or whether you are the IT department at your small business, you need the right type of software to keep up with the competition of the rest of the market. Business accounting software is a necessary part of doing business these days.

No matter what Internet business you decide to start at home, you will need to research purchasing some kind of computer software to enhance your business. Not only is accounting business software an excellent investment for your business, but you could use it as your business. Many companies both large and small need to outsource their accounting. So buying accounting business software can be a great buy for your work at home business.

By David Swanson

Learning can be fun with specially developed computer software for children. Math and reasoning skills are picked while playing games. Computer commands and menus will come naturally to young children through software that has been designed to introduce these concepts.

Moreover, parents are often, rightfully protective and concerned with how to do this in a safe way for their children. They feel better knowing they can be there, and have an active hand in the introduction to the world of computer literacy. Children's computer software and especially educational games can be the best way to do this.

There are such wide ranges of choices that cater to all different kinds of creative minds. They range from all different age groups, genres, and subjects. If you inform yourself about the many programs out there and find the right ones for you and your child, you may find that children's computer software does not have to be just for kids. Nevertheless, there are so many options available. How does one decide?

The first step is to assess your child's needs. Does your child need something to improve their math skills or possibly their reasoning skills? Are they having trouble with reading or spelling? Some software may appear to be just a game to a child but it is actually honing their deductive reasoning skills teaching them to read and do simple math at the same time.

To keep your child interested you need to consider their likes and dislikes. Are they a sports enthusiast? Maybe they enjoy mysteries and adventure games. Finding age appropriate software as well as software that they enjoy is key.

Include your child in the decision making process. You can steer and guide them in the right direction but they will enjoy it a lot more if they feel they picked the game out themselves.

Computer time can be a great time for the family to interact together. Eveyone can get involved in the game. Your children will learn computer skills as well as how to communicate and cooperate and compete and even lose all within the safety of the home.

By doing some online research you can find sites that will inform you about good and bad aspects of the software you are interested in as well as what age and skill level it is geared towards. You want software that reinforces good choices and positive learning skills.

By taking advantage of the software rating sites available you will be able to make the best children's computer software choice for your family. Learning will be fun for your child.

Spy Ware Removal - What Is The Best Software?

By Jason Hobbs

Even someone who has little to no knowledge about operating a computer will understand the need for installing spy ware removal software. It is part of Computer 101 and is included in most instructions that are a part of your new computer package.

When searching for the best Spy ware Removal software, be sure to keep in mind that not all the programs available will remove every type of spyware. There are even some of them that install their own spyware to keep track of how you are using their program.

Spy ware collected from the many different websites you have visited throughout the day will start to eat up the memory on your computer. This, in turn, slows the performance way down. It can become so slow that you might be ready to throw the entire computer out the window. You don't have to resort to such drastic methods, though.

It's a good idea to scan your computer at least once a day using the spy ware removal software you have chosen. Many people perform this type of scan before they begin working and at the end of the day before they shut everything down. These scans will pick up any spy ware that has been collected by your computer, and get rid of it for you.

Spyware is not like a virus, in that it does not, and can not reproduce itself. It actually has to be installed. Once it gets installed, with or with out your permission or knowledge, it will begin stealing sensitive information like your passwords, identity, and even banking information.

A great way to start your search for a good system is through talking to friends. Most people who have had a good experience with a certain type of software will be eager to share this knowledge with you. You can find out what they have to say about the system they are using. Then you can follow this up with your own research.

To find the best system to use takes only a bit of research and investigation on your part. It's also helpful to consult friends or family members who own computers. They most likely will have some suggestions for you as to what kind of software to get for your own.

The important thing to remember is that you need to find the right spy ware removal software right away. This is not something that should be delayed. You won't regret making this a high priority. But you might be sorry if you do not.

Satellite TV for PC Software

By Jeff Franklin

Yes, you can get satellite TV directly on your computer in spite of what people say. There is a software program that aggregates these channels and all you have to have is a good computer and high speed Internet. With this, you can get over 4,000 channels - live video. I must tell you that this is powerful because where else can you get that choice with absolutely no monthly fees? Here's how.

The software I want to talk about is an aggregator software developed over the past few years specifically to bring the channels together at your fingertips so you can watch TV right on your PC. There are so many choices that you may find yourself getting addicted to watching TV this way, as I did. Because of the way the channels are linked there is no monthly fee. And you'd be interested to know that it is totally legal.

Satellite TV for PC software is totally legal because the channels allocated for this are already cleared for Internet broadcast. There is no illegal use of signals, no hacking. This software is free of viruses and spyware and I found something else of interest - it comes in many different options. Basically, the more money you pay, the better the software - more channels you get. The low end gets around 2,000 channels. And I should know.

I worked in radio and TV for over 15 years with my own show in the Dallas/Fort Worth market. We were given many things over the years to try and to look at. But this is one product that I don't know how I lived without. It lets me get those exciting soccer games that I grew up with in Brazil and I can tune into something of interest almost any time of day. And what a value!

This is getting to sound like a big commercial for this thing, and I don't want it to. Just an article to tell you that this is available and there are some keen comparison sites to help. For the price, it's a good value now. This software finds streaming TV video quickly and that's a time saver. But if you're thinking it's too complicated for you, think again.

I am not an expert when it comes to the PC. I call my buddy Dennis to do any installs, upgrades and the like. And even when a new item self-installs, he'll double check it. But this software, I installed myself and asked him to check. It was so easy I was feeling like I really knew what I was doing! But seriously, anyone can install this and you'll be watching TV in minutes. And one more item of interest.

If there is one thing I'd have to say about the software that allows you to watch some 4,000 channels on your PC, it would be that it is just simply convenient. As long as you have a high speed connection and this software, you're good to go. No TV cards or hardware - just the software and you can watch wherever you can take your PC and get a connection. This is so nice that I don't think it will be around long. They'll probably start making you pay a monthly fee to access.

One item that worries me is how little the software sells for. I just laid down about $150 for a mid end DVD player. This is much less, so I am most certain the price will jump in a bit. And when it does, it will still be very worth every cent to quickly find and display streaming TV right on my PC. I don't think it gets any better than that.

Can You Watch TV On Computer: Knowing the Requirements

By Rashel Dan

You could be asking the question, "Can You Watch TV On Computer?" This question used to be impossible to answer. After all, a computer is capable of so many things so why can't it also be used to watch television shows? Sure, one can download movies or TV shows and clips to view later. But what about actual streaming television programming; can it be done? Now you can answer your friends with confidence that it's possible if they have the right tools.

Essentials

Computer Unit - The first advice that you can give a friend who is wondering about satellite television on PC technology is this: you need to get a computer. This is the most essential piece when it comes to this technology. The next very important requirement is to have an Internet connection.

Online Connection - Now, it's not enough to just have any kind of Internet connection. Simply put, an Internet connection in this context means that one needs to have more than dial-up speed for satellite TV on PC to be successful. A comfortable speed would be about 1MBPS of Internet speed, or broadband. This is because all the content that will be sent to a computer is streamed and streaming needs a whole lot of bandwidth to be done successfully.

Additional Hardware

Just Softwares - When it comes to satellite television being streamed into your computer, you no longer need any new peripherals or special devices to hook up to your computer. That's a thing of the past. Satellite television on the computer only needs a software component for it to work. However, there are enhancements to make the experience more pleasant for the viewer.

For example, if one wants loud and blaring sounds while watching programs on the computer, then one can install good speakers. Also, another option is to hook up the computer to a projector. This is actually a really good idea because then you can project the satellite television channels onto a large wall so that everybody can watch what you are watching.

Family Viewing- This is great for a family setting where you can all sit down and watch 3000 channels together. Yes, there are that many channels through the satellite TV for PC application. Can you watch on computer? Yes, with this set up, you all can.

It's An Application?

All you need for this to work is software. The application itself can be bought from many different providers of this satellite TV service. Many of these services can be found on the Internet. The software itself is not that expensive and it is really easy to install. In fact, once you install it, you can use it right away. This is the most essential requirement because without the application your laptop or computer is just that: a computing device. Check out some of the best deals on the Internet for the application that you want to install.

Affordable - Satellite TV on the computer is becoming very popular because of one thing: it's cheap. For a one-time installation, you can enjoy all the programs in the world without having to pay a monthly fee. This is one great reason to stop subscribing to cable and to start using a newer and more viable solution. Can you watch TV on Computer? If you want to enjoy and save money, you will.

Adobe Illustrator Training Courses

By Lynne Kramer

People new to Adobe Illustrator often say that they find the program complex and hard work. When we hold Adobe Illustrator classes in London, we acknowledge the need to help delegates get rid of the belief that Illustrator is a difficult piece of software to use. We have found that there are three main aspects to showing users that Illustrator is no harder or more annoying than any other application.

Firstly, we point out to people that they must be on the right tool in order to carry out a given operation. Secondly, we teach them to observe and interpret the rich visual feedback provided by the program as you carry out various operations. Thirdly, we always remind new users of the ease with which you can revert your drawing back to a state prior to the point where something has gone wrong.

If you a new user to a sophisticated program like Illustrator, you cannot be expected to avoid making errors: things may go a little awry or even get completely screwed up. The key thing here is to learn the power of the Undo command. For example, if you accidentally resize an object don't try to manually change it back to the original size, simply go to the Edit menu and choose Undo or use the keyboard shortcut (Control-Z or Command-Z on Apple Mac). If you Undo too many times, you can always use Edit - Redo to move forward again. (The shortcut for the Redo command is Control-Shift-Z.)

The key factor in avoiding these types of errors is to keep looking at the various signals that the program provides, in particular those signals relating to the cursor appearance. For example, if you are attempting to resize a rectangle, you can only do this when your cursor changes to a slanted line with an arrow at each end (This indicates that your cursor is now in the correct position).

Another thing that new users find is that they are unable to carry out a certain operation because it is not permissible under the current circumstances or at that point in time. For example, you want to resize an object and you end up rotating or moving it instead.

Avoiding this problem is not hard. You just have to make sure that you have the right tool selected. So, if you want to manipulate an existing object, you just ensure that you have the Selection tool highlighted. One of the first shortcuts that we teach people who come on our Illustrator training courses is that you can temporarily activate the Selection tool by just pressing the Control key (or Command for Mac users).

If you a new user to a program like Illustrator, it is inevitable that you will make errors: things may go slightly wrong or even get completely messed up. The key thing here is to learn the Undo habit. For example, if you accidentally move an object don't try to manually put it back where it was, simply choose Edit - Undo or use the shortcut Control-Z (Command-Z on a Mac). If you Undo too far back, you can use the Redo command to come forward again. (The shortcut for Redo is Control-Shift-Z.)

This problem is easy to avoid. Always make sure that you are on the right tool. Thus, if you wish to manipulate an existing object, you have to ensure that the Selection tool is highlighted. One of the first keyboard shortcuts that we teach delegates who attend our Illustrator training courses is that you can temporarily activate the Selection tool by just pressing the Control key (or the Command key if you are using a Mac).

Discovering The Best Zune Video Downloads

By Rashel Dan

Got your new Zune player? Then the next thing you'd want to know is where to get contents. There are many Zune video downloads available on the Internet these days. Many of these sites are very quick to claim that they give the best quality movies and best quality video clips over other sites.

This may be true or not but in many cases this is not a very consistent claim. This is especially true of many sites that offer no-money-down free content that can either be pirated or just plain low quality. So where can one go to get the best video downloads?

Paid Downloads - Probably the best place to get video downloads that are of high quality visually and audibly is through paid download sites. Now, there are some sites that offer unlimited download for free but they are not totally free. However, they are not very expensive either.

This is the way it works. Many free download sites now offer a service, whether it's monthly, yearly, or forever. This service allows one to download as much as he wants as long as the subscription is paid for. For example, a person can pay less than $3 a month for a whole year and then download as much as he or she wants. For an extra charge, movies can also be made available for download. That is virtually a free service because it is definitely cheaper than actually buying a movie on DVD.

One-Time Payment - There is also the option of opting for a lifetime membership that can cost anywhere between $40 and $60. This is a one time fee that a person can pay for unlimited downloads. Since the service is paid for, the videos are also bound to be in the best quality possible and this is therefore a way to get the best Zune video downloads onto your player.

Conversions - Got your own DVD collection? Well, if you do then you will know that DVD quality is probably one of the best kinds of quality that a movie can get. So why not rip the contents of that DVD so that you can have DVD quality movies playing on your Zune? This is very possible with all the software that can be purchased online these days.

Sync It - You can buy a converter or download a freeware version online and start copying your DVD's, converting them into a size and format that is suitable for your Zune player. Then you can sync the movies onto your player. Voila! You will have DVD quality movies on your Zune player.

Can You Watch TV On Your Computer? The Answer Behind It

By Rashel Dan

Can you watch TV on your computer? The answer is finally a resounding yes. Sure, there may have been a time when you could download movies and TV shows, or even watch streaming video clips from a site such as YouTube. But TV on the PC is something totally different and definitely revolutionary.

Is This For Real?

Up until recent months, many of you have probably read about how you can watch TV on your PC for free. You have probably come across all sorts of phony ads that tell you that this is possible with all sorts of software and hardware adjustments to your computer. But today, you can rest assured that this is no longer a technology that should be scoffed at.

In fact, with all the latest technology developments, you can watch TV on your PC with unlimited access to it as long as you have a decent Internet connection. In other words, it's just as real as the cable service that you pay for watch month; and it's a whole lot better.

So It's Like Streaming?

In a sense, yes. You are streaming television signals into your laptop or your computer. However, most streaming deals with files that are already uploaded on some server that allows users to pull down the content to watch. This means it's not as live as you may think it is. With satellite to computer technology, you can watch live TV on your computer and although it's being streamed, it's very different in the sense that you are watching television just as you would off of cable.

What Do I Need To Run This?

Internet - It used to be that you need a television, a cable, and a provider who will stream television into your set probably parked in your living room or bedroom. But now, all that has changed. Can you watch TV on your computer? Yes, and a computer with Internet access is all you need. Computers these days are capable of so much and television is now just a feature that can be added to your set of computer programs. With a decent Internet connection and the right software, you can begin to watch satellite television and simultaneously surf the Internet. How cool is that?

What's The Difference From Regular Television?

3000 Channels - Not only is television on your PC different from regular television; it's different from all kinds of cable provided television. Think about this: after installing satellite television on your PC, you can enjoy up to 3000 channels! That's television from all around the world and at just a portion of the cable TV price. The best thing is that you don't have to pay any monthly bills to enjoy this service. You just pay the one-time installation fee and you virtually have free television for the rest of your life.

Web Software Testing: Guarantees Safety and Functionality

By John Hansen

Software testing is an important stage within the software development cycle (SDCL). There are different testing types and they are useful at different stages of the software development cycle. From the initial development of the application until it reaches the marketing phase different testing types will be used. In addition, all the different versions of the software have to be tested before they are delivered to either the customer or the target market.

Software for web applications is one type of software. With the advancements in Internet and its high impact on our day to day life, web software has achieved high importance in software industry and our daily lives. The majority of the security threats start off from Internet and it is necessary to make sure that the web software is carefully tested prior to releasing to the costumer.

The time available to develop and test web software is always limited. While the web software is being designed and developed it is also being tested by the testing's engineers using different types of tests. The different types of tests can be grouped in code testing, load testing, compatibility testing, functional testing and regression testing.

The web software is usually released by means of a model of software release known as alpha/beta testing. Alpha testing is a replicated or real ready testing by would-be users/customers or a separate testing team on the developers' location. This testing will be upon incomplete software and will be tested for small parts of the software. Alpha testing is often used for ready to use software as a type of in-house acceptance testing. Software that passed the alpha test will not be released till all the major functionalities of the software are built and tested.

After the alpha testing has been finished the web software is ready to be beta tested. Beta testing is done by a limited amount of users that can use the software before its official release takes place. The alpha/beta testing method is not the standard procedure when testing web site design. This is because HTML coding makes it very easy to design independent web pages that can afterwards being easily integrated so the design team can code and test each page independently.

Code testing refers to the process where the testing or development engineer verifies the code and make sure that there are no software bugs. Because the time involved in web development is small it is important that the software is free of bugs. A popular method used by experienced programmers for bug free coding is the paired-programming.

The Paired programming is a method in software development where two programmers work simultaneously at one keyboard. One programmer types in the code when the other person observes and reviews each line at the same time. The judgment behind taking up this method is the following. The Economist proclaims that, "Laurie Williams of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City has shown that paired programmers are only 15% slower than two independent individual programmers, but produce 15% fewer bugs."

The testing process continues through out the software development cycle so that at the time of final release it is free of bugs. Load testing is done to see at what point the application fails or the performance reduces when under heavy loads such as multiple users on or heavy server traffic. This type of testing will help to arrive at statistics such as how many users the site will sustain at the same time, the quantity of communication it will hold and the reaction time under various circumstances.

Compatibility testing needs to be carried out to asses the software compatibility with the software and hardware that it may interact with. This includes testing compatibility with operating systems, database, browsers, peripherals and backwards compatibility.

Functional testing asses the alignment between the application and its specifications checking that it provides all the required functions. To do that an extensive range of both normal and erroneous data will be input to validate the behavior caused by each of the software features. Regression testing is carried out to check that any changes made to the code in order to enhance it or to fix defects has not affected any functionality.

When iterative methodology is used to develop software regression testing is crucial. In iterative programming, new modules are added to the core module to increase the functionality provided by the application, this needs to be done with the certainty that the added module does not affect the original functionality of the running module. The aim of regression testing is to discover regression bugs. All the types of test mentioned above are necessary to provide complete web software testing.

Adobe Acrobat Bookmarks

By Lynne Kramer

When we run Adobe Acrobat training courses in London, one of the first topics we tackle is bookmarks. Almost everyone will agree that PDFs are a great invention but it can sometimes be rather tedious to navigate through them. That's where bookmarks become useful: they are clickable headings which take you to a specific part of the PDF document and allow you to get around a lot faster than scrolling or paging.

When you distribute PDFs that contain important information about your products or services, you want to make sure that your audience can get to key facts as quickly as possible. Adding bookmarks to your PDF files can make them more useful and attractive to potential clients.

The bookmarks panel is one of Acrobat's many navigation panels. It is normally displayed on the left of the Acrobat Reader screen. To show bookmarks, click the bookmark icon or choose View - Navigation Panels - Bookmarks. When you click on a bookmark, you are taken to the page that it is linked to.

Bookmarks cannot be created using Acrobat Reader: you will need Acrobat Professional or Acrobat Standard, the versions of Acrobat you have to pay for. But, for the most part, you will also need one of these two bits of software to create your PDF as well.

Having created the PDF, open it with Acrobat Standard or Professional and open the Bookmarks panel. Then navigate to the first page that you want your readers to be able to find easily, choose New Bookmark from the Options menu located in the top right of the Bookmarks panel. Finally, enter a name for the bookmark. Repeat this procedure to create as many bookmarks as you want.

Creating bookmarks can be bit tedious. However, there are a few ways of speeding things up. Firstly, you don't have to type a name for each bookmark. You can highlight some text on the page then choose New Bookmark. Acrobat uses the highlighted text as the name of the bookmark. Another thing you can do is to use the keyboard shortcut for New Bookmark. This, as you can probably guess, is Control-B.

You can also generate bookmarks automatically. For example, there is Adobe PDFMaker. This handy utility is automatically installed along with Acrobat Standard or Professional and creates an extra menu in all Microsoft Office programs called "Adobe PDF". It also creates an "Adobe PDFMaker" toolbar.

When you create a PDF using the Acrobat PDFMaker, any paragraphs formatted with a Word heading style, e.g., "Heading 1", "Heading 2", etc., will automatically create PDF bookmarks as do all entries in tables of content and indexes. In the same way, if you PDF an Excel workbook with the PDFMaker, bookmarks to each sheet will be automatically generated. In PowerPoint, too, bookmarks to every slide in the presentation will be automatically generated.

There are also DTP packages which will automatically generate PDF bookmarks in the same way as Microsoft Word (from styles, indexes and tables of content). Naturally InDesign will do this but also QuarkXPress and Serif PagePlus. These three software packages have the additional benefit that you don't actually need to own Acrobat Standard or Professional. The facility to create PDFs is built-in to each of these packages.

It is also worth mentioning that bookmarks can do more than just link to a particular page within the PDF document. Firstly, by default, they actually link to a view rather than a page. Thus, for example, if a page in your document contains a map, you can zoom in on the map till it fills the screen and then create a bookmark. When your users click this bookmark, they will be taken to the exact zoom level that was current when the bookmark was created.

Get A Computer Program To Design Your Home

By Jerry Blackburn

Are you envious of Martha Stewart and other interior designers? Wish you could have a professionally decorated home but can't afford to hire a designer? Or, do you wish you were a designer but don't have the time or the funds to go to school?

Never fear, the solution to your problem is as close as your computer. Even interior design has gone high tech. There are several interior design programs that let you redo your space with the click of a keyboard. Don't like what you've come up with? No problem, a few more clicks and you can try something different.

Actually professional interior designers have been using software to do their work for years. It's easier and more convenient than paper-and-pencil graphs. They can plan out their ideas before physically moving anything. They can also try different shades of color before committing to one.

One fun thing you can do with a design program is to try out different types of furniture shapes and place them exactly where you want them in the room. Do you love the look of wicker furniture but aren't sure how it would look in your Early American living room. Here's an easy way to find out. You can also try the furniture in different colors. If you are tempted to paint or stain your kitchen cabinet doors, you can get an idea of how it would look first.

Most interior design programs are very easy to use. Just load the program and follow the directions on screen. You can use it to design one corner of a room, a whole room or even your whole house. Some even allow you to do your home and your landscaping.

Because there are so many different programs available, it's a good idea to read about them before you purchase. Make sure the program is compatible with your computer system and you have enough space on your system. Read product reviews for different titles: you may find the ones that call themselves "user-friendly" are not necessarily so easy. You may find some programs can interact with websites that can give you more information.

Most interior design programs are very inexpensive. It's a fun way to spend time. You may find that you enjoy interior design and decide to pursue it as a career. Or, you may decide that it will just be a fun hobby.

You can also use the program to vent your frustrations: You can imagine designing your bedroom with a purple-and-orange pirate motif. If that doesn't help you forget your real-world troubles, nothing will.

So, next time you get the urge to redo a room, head on over to your computer. Boot it up and try out some ideas. It's cheaper, quicker and more fun to make mistakes in your virtual space than doing it in real life.

Digital TV On Your PC: The New Technology

By Rashel Dan

It's possible today. People can now enjoy the latest channels on their pc. The Digital TV on your PC revolution looks like it will gain quick popularity among Internet users in the next couple of years. As a technology that has been around for almost a decade, experts have finally found a solution to help Internet users bring the television to their desktops and laptops through satellite television feeds. This is probably nothing new to many Internet users, but the question is why they should try out this new technology in the first place.

Understanding The Technology

Of course, you might be enjoying your cable television right now while reading this on your computer or laptop. But do you really want to divert your attention from the computer screen just to look at the television or to change the channel? This is one of the issues tat satellite television on your TV addresses.

The Benefits - Imagine being able to type up your documents, check your email, or just surf your favorite sites while simultaneously watching your favorite TV show or channel. This is made possible because experts have developed software that legally captures the signals of providers that feed that channels to satellites. It then lets users watch these channels over the Internet. This is the reason why one needs a computer and a decent Internet connection to be able to watch satellite television.

Just Softwares - So what is the difference from watching cable channels on your television from satellite television on your PC? Well, the difference is pretty obvious because you don't need wires or special hardware to be able to watch the same cable channels and much more on your PC.

The Software - All you will need is special software that can be bought on various providers on the Internet. This means that the software can be installed on a laptop or a computer. And this also means that wherever you are, you can just pull out your laptop and watch television as long as you have access to the Internet. This is the advantage that you can have over others. Imagine being able to watch all your favorite channels in any place that has a good WIFI signal. Cable television, on the other hand, will always stay in your living room.

The Channels - Another advantage that satellite digital TV on your PC has over conventional cable services is the amount of content that you will be able to enjoy. Sure, on your current cable subscription you can probably enjoy well over 200 channels from around the United States. But satellite television takes you a step further by allowing you access to 3000 channels from all around the world. This means that you will have access to programming that you never even dreamed of. Favorite channels? You will definitely be adding to the list in no time.

Microsoft Windows repair

By Ethan Hunter

Windows registry:

There may be several errors in a Windows based PC with most of the errors coming from the registry system. Windows registry is a database where Windows stores its important data to be selectively retrieved when executing programs. The errors in the registry system are mostly obsolete information, invalid and corrupted data. These errors develop in the registry with use of your computer. The registry grows in size as the errors start to accumulate, and Windows takes much longer to scan the registry to locate the relevant data it is looking for. Microsoft Windows repair can take care of your registry problems, keeping the registry free from errors.

Accumulation of errors in the registry may give rise to conflicts and your computer may fail to boot. The Windows operating system may also crash, and re-formatting your hard disk and re-installation of Windows could be the only way to recover your system. In the process, if you have not backed up your data you may lose it all. As errors develop in the registry, your computer will start to slow down. If the errors are not removed and allowed to accumulate, you might see blue screen appearing on your monitor and eventually your Windows system could crash. In order to avoid total registry failure, you should clean your registry regularly. It may take the help of Microsoft Windows repair registry cleaner downloads to solve your registry problems.

Windows XP recovery console:

The Windows XP CD that has been provided by Microsoft, contains the recovery console which is used for Windows repair and install. The CD auto loads in your computer, and the set up displays "Welcome to Setup" on your monitor. All you do is follow the instructions provided to repair and install Windows XP. You may need your administrative password in the process.

Before you start to use Microsoft Windows repair by running the recovery console, you need to make sure you are aware of certain things which are essential for Microsoft Windows XP repair and install. These include:

- Knowing your administrative password. - You need to have some experience using MS-DOS before you start to run the recovery console. - The directories available to you are the root directory and the Microsoft Windows or Winnt directory. No other directory will be available to you. - You will not be able to copy information from one hard drive to the other since you will not have access to your main drive. You will only have access to your floppy drives, CD-ROM drives and other disk drives, and you will be able to copy information from one of these drives to the other.

Your Windows XP CD provides you with the facility to repair Windows errors. You need to back-up the data in your computer, and you should always take this back-up on a separate hard drive, a CD, or on network storage. In this way, the data that you have backed up will not be affected by any repair you do on the Windows operating system. Before attempting the repair to install Windows, look up the descriptions of appropriate warning links available on the Internet. Microsoft provides you with instructions to repair Windows from the CD provided.

Follow the instructions correctly in order to retain your data as you proceed with repair and installation of your Windows XP. The process will enable you to replace the damaged Windows files while retaining the data you have in your computer with your settings and applications remaining as before. However, when you have completed Microsoft Windows repair, you need to download all the Microsoft Windows XP updates.

Acrobat Training Should Always Include Bookmarks

By Lynne Kramer

When we run courses on Adobe Acrobat in London, one of the first topics we cover is the use of bookmarks. Almost everyone agrees that PDFs are a great thing but they can sometimes be rather difficult and tedious to navigate. That's where bookmarks come in handy: they are clickable headings which link to specific parts of the PDF document and enable you to get around a lot faster than scrolling or moving one page at a time.

When you distribute PDFs containing key information about your services or products, you want to make sure that your readers can find important facts as quickly as possible. Including bookmarks in your PDF files can make them more attractive and useful to potential customers.

The bookmarks panel is one of the navigation panels normally displayed on the left of the Acrobat Reader screen. To show bookmarks, click on the bookmark icon or choose View - Navigation Panels - Bookmarks. Click on a bookmark to move to the page that it links to.

Bookmarks cannot be created with Acrobat Reader: you will need either Acrobat Professional or Acrobat Standard, the commercial versions of Acrobat. But then you will also need one of these two bits of software to create your PDF in the first place.

Once you have created the PDF, open it with Acrobat Standard or Professional and open the Bookmarks panel. Next, navigate to the first page that you want your audience to be able to find easily, choose New Bookmark from the Options menu in the top right of the Bookmarks panel and enter a name for the bookmark. Repeat this procedure to create as many bookmarks as you think useful.

Some programs can also generate bookmarks automatically. One example is Adobe PDFMaker, a utility for Microsoft Office 97, 2002 and 2003. This is automatically installed along with Acrobat Standard or Professional and creates a new menu in Office programs called "Adobe PDF" and also an "Adobe PDFMaker" toolbar.

When you create a PDF using the PDFMaker utility, any text formatted with Word's heading styles ("Heading 1", "Heading 2", etc.) will automatically be converted to PDF bookmarks as will entries in indexes and tables of content. Similarly, if you PDF an Excel workbook using PDFMaker, bookmarks to each worksheet will automatically be created. In PowerPoint, bookmarks to each slide in your presentation will be generated for you.

Some DTP packages will also automatically generate PDF bookmarks in a similar way to Microsoft Word (based on styles, indexes and tables of content), namely InDesign, QuarkXPress and Serif PagePlus. These three software applications have the added benefit that you don't actually need to buy Acrobat Standard or Professional to create your PDF files, since this facility is built-in to each of these great programs.

Don't be fooled into thinking that bookmarks only be used to link to a particular page within the PDF document. (They can do tons of other things as well.) In any case, they actually link to a view not a page. Thus, for example, if a page in your PDF file contains a map, you can zoom in on the map till it fills the screen and create a bookmark of that view. When your user clicks the bookmark, he or she will be taken to the zoom level that was current when you created the bookmark.

Why All Companies Should Deploy A Web Based CRM Software

By Ray Lam

One of the primary factors in the success of any company is the liaison it shares with its customers. CRM or Customer Relationship Management designates all features of interaction a company shares with its customer. This includes everything from sales to service.

As the World Wide Web serves as the platform in web based CRM solutions, the software need be installed on a single server. The installed software can be accessed from any remote location, and any change made in the software will be reflected throughout the system. The client-server model CRM solutions do not support remote access or wireless devices. But, web based CRM solutions have facilities to access wireless devices like PDAs and WAP-enabled mobile phones.

The web based CRM service is more effective. Web-based CRM services mainly covers three areas of service- sales force automation, management of customer relationships and customer services and automated marketing.

A web-based CRM software is a web-based system used for contact management, marketing and sales support, project tracking and other tasks associated with CRM. This software enables teams and departments to share a central and fresh database. The software facilitates its users with an online contact manager and a project-tracking tool, either over the web or within the corporate intranet. With the aid of the CRM software you can view and manage contacts, customer's record, hot leads, projects and left-out work, from anywhere and with any web-browser. Moreover unlike the intervening and needed to be testified upgrades of an enterprise software, the upgrades to the web based software do not affect the organization's regular operations in any manner. Due to these features more and more companies are driven towards this web-based software.

Today's web based CRM systems are more versatile than ever and are ideal for startup and growing companies alike. Not only do they offer features like power dialing, voice messaging, and fax/email customization, but web based CRM packages also offer the benefit of portability; a web based CRM system operates wherever there is an internet connection. With the ability to allow sales representatives to be kept up to date on the latest leads, a web based CRM system goes from merely tracking sales to creating them.

Free PC scan

By Ethan Hunter

As soon as you start to browse the Internet, you are risking attacks not only from virus, but also from those creepy malware, and you start to have the immediate effect. Your PC slows down, and your monitor screen suddenly turns blue. There could be other effects too. Your firewall could have been tampered with, and it could be sending out strange traffic. The virus with your email could be hacking your computer with your personal information being siphoned off by some people somewhere in the net.

Virus attacks could take over your PC completely, so much so, that it starts to send emails to all the addresses it finds in your address book. A virus could initiate Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack in large networks and could paralyze the whole operation. For detecting virus and malware in your computer system, you should have your PC scanned by web-based free PC scan which can detect various kinds of Internet security threats in your computer such as viruses, worms, Trojans, and spyware.

Free PC scan is a web-based utility which scans your PC to detect any virus, spyware, adware, etc., in your computer. The online tool scans for a wide range of Internet threats in your PC which include known viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. The utility also helps you detect any such programs or files which are vulnerable to your system and provides you with links to websites where the missing security patches are available. These patches could be downloaded in your system. Generally, free PC scan provides you with a report of the Internet threats found in your computer.

You must be cautious in choosing free PC scan web tool. You need to choose the one which is authentic and genuine. There are several of these around which are dangerous for your system. Viruses are intentionally fed into your system as you start scanning with some of these tools. At the end of the scan, it comes up with a report which shows a huge quantity of virus that are supposed to have been detected in your computer. There-after, for removal of these viruses they ask you to purchase the anti-virus software from them. The pop-up endlessly comes up no matter what you do.

There are various kinds of indications when your system gets attacked by virus or spyware. At first, your system may get slow and later hang. A tool bar may appear with your browser, one you have never seen before. The browser would automatically take you to a different website than the one you wanted to browse, and more specifically, if you find that you are not being able to run Windows programs like "Msconfig", or REGEDIT, it is almost certain you have virus in your system. You can search for free PC scan utilities on the Internet, and one of these web-based tools can help you detect the virus and the malicious software in your computer.

The best way to select one of these free PC scan utilities is to go through the user reviews that you can find on the Internet where all the different features of the available tools are discussed. The observations made in there could help you select one of these tools. To avoid permanent damage to your computer system, it is necessary that you are aware of the various Internet threats which can paralyze your PC. Virus may destroy all your data in your hard disk, and malicious software could change your Firewall and browser settings with your personal information going out of your PC to someone on the net. Free PC scan would scan your computer and provide you with a report on the types of viruses and malware found in your system.

Creating An Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 Web Site

By Lynne Kramer

Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 is a terrific piece of software which demystifies the business of creating a web site. However, it is also packed with a whole host of features which can seem a little daunting when you first start using the program. This article aims to explain how create a basic web site, where to start and which tools to use.

It's always a good idea to sketch out a plan of how the site will work and what kind of user experience it will offer. Dreamweaver will not give you any assistance at this stage, so just use pen and paper. Start by building a basic site, one that you know you can complete without getting bogged down in technologies that you do not understand.

Another step you should complete before you even go into Dreamweaver is to create a folder to hold all of the files which will comprise your site: the "local root folder", as Dreamweaver calls it. Don't put anything in this folder but the files relating to your site. Once you have completed your project, it will mirror the live version of your site.

It is also very important to create a folder within the local root to hold all your images. This will help prevent you ending up with missing images on your pages since, when we define the Dreamweaver site, we will designate this folder as the default images folder.

Now, finally, we launch Dreamweaver and create a new web site by choosing New Site from the Site menu. Click the Advanced tab ("Advanced" here simply means manual, so don't be intimidated.) You will notice a series of categories on the left of the screen. Only the first two categories need to be completed: Local Info and Remote Info.

The first element required in the "Local Info" section is a name for the new site. This goes in the top box. Next, use the folder icons to browse and locate the "Local Root Folder" and "Default Images Folder" respectively.

Next you need to click on the Remote Info category on the left of your screen. This is where you tell Dreamweaver how to connect to the server that contains your web pages. For a public website, choose FTP as the access method and ask your web hosting company for the other details required. For an intranet, choose Local/Network as the access method and navigate to the server and sub-directory containing your company intranet.

Before actually putting any content in your pages, you should ensure that all the pages you mapped out in your original plan have been created and saved. So, instead of creating and completing a page at a time, you create and save every single page. This will prevent the creation of links that don't work properly because, when you come to create a link, the page you are linking to will already exist; you point to it and ask Dreamweaver to create the link.

There's still one more step that you should do before you are ready to actually start work on the page content; you should create at least one template. Templates allow you to maintain a consistent look and feel throughout the site. It consists of fixed elements, such as logo and navigation links and what Dreamweaver calls "Editable Regions". These are the areas of the page which can be altered each time you use the template.

Having finished your template or templates, you are ready to build the web pages that will constitute your site. Simply open each page, choose Modify - Templates - Apply Template to Page and then add the text, images etc. that make up the page.

Adobe Illustrator Classes

By Lynne Kramer

During our Adobe training courses, we have come to realise that one of our tasks is to rid people of the belief that Illustrator is a difficult program to learn. We find that new users to Adobe Illustrator will often moan that they find the program complex. To solve this problem, there are three main things that we like to point out to everyone who attends our Illustrator classes.

The first thing is, we are always reminding new users of the ease with which you can change back your drawing to a state earlier than the point where it has gone wrong. Also, we constantly remind delegates that they must be on the right tool in order for a given operation is to work. As well as this, we give them an insight into the subtle and useful visual feedback provided by Illustrator as you create and manipulate elements within your drawing.

Illustrator beginners will often hit a roadblock where they are unable to carry out a certain operation because Illustrator will not permit it at that point in time or under the current circumstances. For example, they might want to change the size of an object and they end up rotating or moving it around the page instead.

The best way of avoiding these types of mistakes is to keep an eye on the various signals that Illustrator provides, particularly those relating the appearance of the cursor. Thus, for example, if you are trying to resize a rectangle, you can only do so when the cursor changes to a diagonal line with an arrow at both ends (indicating that your cursor is in the correct position).

When manipulating objects, Illustrator newbies will often forget to first highlight the Selection tool. For example, they will draw a shape with, say, the Line tool and then, while the Line tool is still highlighted, they will attempt to move or resize the line they have just drawn or perhaps click on the page to deselect the line. They are then bemused and cross when little lines keep appearing on the page or Illustrator's shape dimension window keeps on popping up.

If your effort to create a drawing has gone completely wrong, the best thing to do is to accept defeat and choose the Revert command from the File menu. This is a way of admitting "This just isn't working. I submit!" The Revert command abandons all of the modifications you have made to the document since it was last saved and can be another useful way of avoiding user headaches.

Free computer registry cleaner

By Ethan Hunter

Windows registry needs to be made error free from time to time for your computer to perform well. The registry in your Windows system maintains records which define the relationship between your Windows operating system, the hardware, and your application software. Every time you install software, or remove an older version from your PC, Windows registry gets changed.

During the time you execute tasks, your registry data changes. Within all these operations, unwanted or redundant data accumulates in the registry taking up unnecessary space. These are errors in your registry and they need to be removed. There are various free computer registry cleaner software downloads available on the Internet. You can try and use one of them to remove the errors from your registry and keep your computer in shape.

Sometimes errors in your registry conflict with the information that Windows want. At that time your PC hangs, for your Windows operating system cannot resolve the conflict.

There was no registry system before Windows 95 came in. Before Windows 95, all other Windows operating system software packages contained INI files which held the data. These are now stored by the present Windows registry. INI files were unevenly distributed all over the disk system and it was impossible to locate any particular data in those files. With the registry system that we have now, we still have problems. Being a central database for Windows operating system, any error in the registry would stop your computer from performing satisfactorily. You need to run free computer registry cleaner to remove the errors in your registry and have your computer operate smoothly.

Specialized software is required to do the job perfectly and automatically. There are several websites on the Internet offering free computer registry cleaner software, and you could easily download the one applicable for you.

Previous versions of Windows software, viz, Windows 95 and 98, offered REGCLEAN as free registry cleaner software which appeared to be adequate for cleaning your registry system. But this has been discontinued by Microsoft and no longer officially supported by the company. Free computer registry cleaner downloads offer software packages with several features. When you select one to download, you should consider downloading the one which provides you with the feature of taking a back-up of your existing registry system before starting to clean. More-over, the software must be able to compact your registry after removing errors.

Mobile CRM Software

By Ray Lam

Mobile CRM is emerging into the mainstream as an excellent method of relaying information between marketing and sales personnel. Busy sales and marketing professionals on the road can now communicate quickly and effectively through mobile CRM. Mobile CRM refers to the use of a mobile device to conduct any CRM related activities, including mobile phones, PDAs, and laptop computers.

Previous to mobile CRM, sales professionals were limited in the ways they could transfer and access information. This often meant less access to updated information, more leads going cold, and a less effective work methodology. Luckily, the tables have turned and people are getting connected in new, completely unique ways that allow for such applications as mobile CRM.

A central data center allows you to access all the information all the time. No one person has longer access to a file or case; you can look at it simultaneously without slowing anything down. And if a client id shifted to you suddenly, you have access to all their information in a matter of minutes. Thus, mobile CRM is an extremely effective, efficient ancillary to your normal CRM system.

Leads don't get cold because there will always be someone to pick up the slack. Mobile CRM also makes it easier to ensure the lead gets nudged down the pipeline gently but effectively and ends up in the correct place.

Even if a user isn't dialed in or online, they still have instant access to information. Thus, if their computer connection dies or they lose their phone, they have other options for getting information, ensuring they get their job done. Likewise, a user can get all the information they need via phone; this ensures that users never need to plug in to access administrative data.

Mobile CRM is amazingly easy to use and takes much of the stress off of professional sales people. It allows them to stay in touch and get new updates. Mobile CRM is especially conducive to sales professionals who travel a large part of the time. Because you can use any mobile device, traveling isn't difficult, and it's far less stressful. If you suddenly remember something you have to find or look up, forget a client's information, or any other number of scenarios, mobile C
